About Charity People
Since 1997, Charity People has grown from a small community initiative in Mtwapa into a recognized force for education, water access, and sustainable development across coastal Kenya.
Our History
Founding in Mtwapa
Charity People was founded by a group of educators and community leaders in Mtwapa with a vision to provide basic literacy and nutrition support to children in underserved neighborhoods.
First Education Program
The Charity Centre of Education opened its doors as the organization's first dedicated education wing, serving 120 students with a scholarship pathway.
Water & Borehole Initiative
Our first solar-powered borehole was completed in Kwale County, bringing clean water to over 1,000 residents and reducing water-borne illness by 60%.
National Recognition
Charity People was recognized by the Kenyan Ministry of Education for its contribution to community-based learning and received its first international grant.
Expanding Reach
With 42 active projects, 560 volunteers, and 18 communities served, Charity People continues to grow its impact across Kilifi County and beyond.

Why Our Work Matters So
Much — Across Kenya
Kenya is a vibrant, growing nation. While many areas hold both great promise and significant challenge, families across the country work hard but often live close to the financial edge. For girls from all backgrounds across Kenya, the difference between a quality education and no education at all can come down to whether an institution like ours exists.
